Today I have another guest post for you while I am permanently drunk on French Wine. Today's post is from the wonderful Claire, who has bought more polishes in a small amount of time than any other person I know! Go check out her blog!
With OPI releasing their new and seventh annual collaboration set 2013 "Pink of Hearts" with Breast Cancer in mind, i thought i would give my 2012 set a try that i bought a couple of months back.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and OPI have pledged to donate $25,000 to Susan G Komen (a foundation dedicated to research about causes, research treatments and to try ad find a cure) and $5,000 to Rethink Breast Cancer in Canada.
In 2012 Pink of Hearts the duo were "I think In Pink" and "You Glitter Be Good To Me". The 2013 will hold pink polish and glitter again, but of different shades and different glitter.
As always the consistency of the polish was great to work with, however in contrast to other OPI's the "I Think In Pink" was quite thin and needed 3 coats for full coverage:
With the glitter i decided to use just the bottom half of my nails with it so the pink still showed on the tips. On my ring finger i did the whole lot in glitter. Its actually the first time I've done this kind of polishing, so although i kinda like it it also looks strange to me, like only having done half the nail! I LOVE the glitter. Its pink and silver and is just beautiful when on. It catches the light perfectly and it goes so well with the pink.
Base Coat used was Nails Inc Hyde Park, and top coat used was Gelous.
I think next time, ill try to do what i was trying to do here, and have the glitter heavy at the base and filtering off as it goes up the nail - i went a bit heavy on the glitter i think, but practise makes perfect i guess!
I love the fact that this set helped Breast Cancer, a cause close to me (both Breast and other cancer), which makes me want to rush out and buy the 2013 one.
This year it has "Pink-ing of You" and "More than a Glimmer"
along with some nail art in the form of the pink ribbon and some crystals - very cute!
This is on sale now at Nail Polish Direct for £14.99 with free delivery - an excellent price for a limited edition set, when you think each OPI bottle normally retails around £11 each!
if you like the 2012 version i used here, you can still find some sets on Ebay for sale.
Thanks Claire, for such a detailed post, I have last years set and love it and adore this years glitter too! I think these are perfect polishes for a really important cause! Please show Claire some love and either give her a comment or pop over to her blog and say hello!
